Perched high on a hill, the magical village of Tella is a place steeped in legends of witches and mythical beings such as Silbán.
The hamlets of the old municipality of Tella — Revilla, Arinzué, Lamiana, Cortalaviña, Estaroniello and Hospital de Tella — are scattered across the mountainside below.
Among the village highlights are the 16th-century Church of San Martín and Casa del Molino, home to both the Witchcraft Museum and the Cave Bear Interpretation Centre. Tella is also home to the visitors centre for Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park.
Nearby, you’ll find the hermitages of Virgen de Fajanillas, Virgen de la Peña and San Juan and San Pablo — some of the oldest chapels in the region.
The Tella Dolmen — also known as Losa La Campa — together with the remains discovered in nearby caves, reveal that humans have inhabited this area since prehistoric times.
Close to Tella lies the Cave Bear Cave , while the village itself is home to a museum museum dedicated to this prehistoric creature.
More recently, Tella became known throughout the Pyrenees as a village of witches, which is why the three protective hermitages were built — today connected by a beautiful and family-friendly walking route.
