Saravillo is the only village in the valley located on the left bank of the Cinqueta River,the waterway that shapes and connects the Chistau Valley.
Nestled beneath the Cotiella massif and overlooking the dramatic La Enclusa gorge, it’s a place well worth stopping in — whether you’re heading up to Basa de la Mora or continuing towards the upper valley.
A right-hand turn just before the series of tunnels carved into the rock will take you to Saravillo in less than five minutes.
Legend tells that during the Christian resistance against the Arab invasion, a Moorish princess fled high into the mountains and became lost near the Ibón de Plan, where her soul remained trapped forever.
According to the story, anyone who washes their face in the waters of the lake on the night of San Juan — and whose soul is pure and free of sin — may catch sight of the princess dancing across the surface of the water, adorned with jewels and serpents.
Basa de la Mora, also known as the Ibón de Plan, can be reached via a well-maintained forest track that begins in Saravillo and climbs to the Lavasar Refuge. From there, a gentle half-hour walk leads to the shores of this extraordinary mountain lake.
Access to the track costs 5€ per vehicle, payable at the ticket machine located at the entrance.
